I had the weirdest dream. I woke up. My house was both simple and sophisticated. It was comfortable and small, not ostentatious, yet filled with highly sophisticated electronics. It was both comfortable and riveting.
I walked outside. I had a yard, just the right size. It was well kept with a flower bed and concrete driveway. My neighbors were nearby, but not on top of me. Each house had its own distinct personality. No one house was more extravagant than the other, but all were well kept and pristine.
Next thing I knew I was at work. Only work wasn’t a huge corporation full of cubicle farms. Work was a gorgeous multilevel complex that felt more like a home. The people there were of all genders and races. The most unusual thing was that everyone was working together. They seemed happy. Collaboration outweighed greed and oppression.
As I left work, I stopped by the store. I couldn’t believe how well maintained the roads were. There seemed to be an usually large amount of schools, studios, and small businesses. Buildings seemed to be structured more by art than practicality.
As I walked the streets, there were no homeless. There didn’t appear to be any poor. It was as if wealth was more or less equally distributed. I saw a tv with the news. It didn’t boast of wars or corporate dominance, instead there were stories of people helping one another, teaching each other.
Someone came up to me as I gawked at the tv and asked if I was from here. I looked at her and shook my head no. She smiled and narrated. Every since the last great war we finally able to build a society based on trust, cooperation and equality, not greed and paranoia. She said the only thing in the way of a utopian society is us, not limited resources.
I woke up.
