It’s funny how much Republicans talk about the drug problem in America and the importance of shutting down borders while Corporate Greed and the billionaire’s greed strips millions of Americans of food, medicine and housing. I truly believe greed is as addictive as fentanyl, especially the more you make.
Until the 90s Americans actually tried to make better products. Competition was built upon making something better, durable, and cheaper. Then corporations learned you can make more money through planned obsolescence, deception, and trickery.
They started putting air in packaging, making bigger boxes that held less food. They put more water in soup and less food. They put fillers in cleaning products. They put more water in sauces and started using few natural ingredients. They made it so electronics, light bulbs, and mechanical parts would wear down faster or break at predetermined time periods. They created phones where you couldn’t simply replace the battery, you had to buy a new phone. With each phone, they created a new charger port, so you had to buy new accessories. You couldn’t use your previous charger. The list goes on and on.
I understand that you can’t build things that last 20 years and continue to have solid manufacturing. These plants would go out of business. But you could make them last 6 years instead of 2 and make 15% profit instead of 30% and stop giving the CEOs million dollar bonuses.
What else did America learn. You make a lot more money with less effort through scams. Hell, you could stay at home in your pajamas and watch tv while trying to sucker unsuspecting Americans to click on the wrong link or open the wrong attachment.
Don’t even get me started about our insurance companies. Oh, and social security. Now they call it Federal Benefit Payments. That is total BS. We paid into it. Our take home income was deducted. This is not a benefit. This a program we paid into. We deserve to get our money back!
Everything in America is a scam. You can’t trust anything any politician or corporation tells you. You can’t trust anything sent to you on your phone. You can’t trust any advertisement. You can’t trust anything that comes through your email.
I miss the old America where we had values, where strength was integrity and trust. Where it wasn’t weak to be honest. It wasn’t cowardice to admit you were wrong.
This is the America that is being shielded to the rest of the world. This is why 60% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and don’t have any retirement. This is the story they don’t want the rest of the world to know or understand.
America has been in decline for at 4 decades, some might argue longer. I am not anti-America. I am anti-this-America. An America riddled by corruption, greed, racism, and Christian nationalism. An America where the people have forgotten why it was founded in the first place.
If Trump did one good thing, it was expose America’s decay to the world. It’s about time everyone woke up and realized just how far this nation has fallen.
I can only hope we can pick up the pieces and not fall farther. We will never be the best again. China is so far past us. What we can do is learn to work together again. Swallow our pride and learn to work with the world. It will take a lot of forgiveness and trust that we will have to earn over several decades and several generations. MAGA really did a number on this country. They were like a cancer. Now we have to go through chemo and remove them. Then we have to heal. Then we can rebuild, hopefully with newfound humility.
